1 Do you feel that the “mystery” in the steppe landscape of Damdinsüren’s and Tsend’s stories is qualitatively different from that in the urban world of Bolor-Erdene’s? If so, then in what ways?

2 In what ways do you feel the human interaction with the natural world – and with non-human persons in particular) – helps to create the feeling of mystery?

3 What qualities in Bolor-Erdene’s ghost story are different from similar stories you have read from other cultures, and what are similar? Do you think there are universal characteristics in this kind of fiction which this particular story either does or doesn’t share?
