I study Tibetan literature, both classical and modern, and have been terribly curious about Mongolian literature for a while. At first glance, I see a lot of overlap between the two cultures and literatures—whether it is it is throughout shared Buddhist literature or their strikingly similar experiences with the modern. At the same time, I’m aware that by reading Mongolian literature through Tibetan-tinted glasses I run the risk of making superficial generalities between the two cultures peoples and literatures. Either way, I am very excited to see what similarities, and even more what differences, there are between in modern Mongolian literature.
